The Maine Children's Home Red Stocking Program During the Christmas season, Marden’s stores across the state raise money for The Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers by asking our customers to donate to the Little Red Stocking program. Each year this program distributes boxes of gifts and clothing to more than 1,700 financially disadvantaged children throughout the state.
The Muscular Distrophy Association During the summer, all Marden’s locations across the state raise money for The Muscular Dystrophy Association by asking our customers for donations at checkout. Each year, Marden’s is proud to help support the MDA by raising thousands of dollars to support various programs, most often being their summer camp. Children of various ages living with muscular dystrophy are able to attend the camp at no cost to learn life skills in a fun, team-building, and accommodating environment.
Make a Wish Maine In 2022 and 2023, Marden’s was a gold sponsor for Make-A-Wish Maine‘s annual Share the Power of a Wish Telethon. The event raises thousands to grant wishes to Maine children battling a critical illness. We’re happy to partner with such efforts, especially within our home state, where the direct and powerful impact is evident.
Project Linus Project Linus is a national organization with a mission to provide love, comfort, warmth, and a sense of security to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gift of handmade blankets and afghans. Project Linus has 400 chapters nationally, with seven in Maine. Each year Marden’s collects quilts, blankets, and donations for the program chapters throughout the state. Marden’s has donated over 7,000 quilts over the years.
The United Way The United Way Of Eastern Maine is an organization that assists 43 health and human services agencies to serve more than 45,000 people in Eastern Maine each year. Marden’s employees donate annually to the United Way through an employer-based program that is encouraged and matched by Marden’s.
Kennebec Valley Community College Scholarships In the spirit of Mickey Marden’s generosity and support for education, Marden’s has created scholarships for incoming and continuing students at Kennebec Valley Community College. The Mickey Marden Scholarship is awarded in amounts from $250-$1000 to multiple students every year.
A Family for ME A Family for ME is a partnership between the Department of Health and Human Services and Spurwink Services, with the focus of raising awareness of the urgent need and finding Maine families who are willing and able to parent children in foster care.
